Hawaii Pesticide License Renewal Requirements are as follows:
CERTIFIED APPLICATOR RECERTIFICATION PROCEDURES
Certifications may be renewed no earlier than three months before and no later than 30 days after the expiration date in the following manner:
- Pass the certification examination for the same categories, or accumulate the prescribed number of
hours of training approved for credit for the certified categories.
The credit hours must be completed during the current 5-year certification period and may be acquired as follows: - (a) Passing comprehension evaluation quizzes (open book) on specific topics taken from the Pesticide Label, a tri-monthly newsletter available on the internet at: http://pesticides.hawaii.edu/epp/pat.html. Quiz sessions are held by appointment only and are limited to one hour each. However, applicators may take as many quizzes (each worth an average of 1.0 credit hour) during a single session as time permits.
- (b) Attend Continuation Education Training (CET) classes such as seminars, conferences, or workshops (localor national) preapproved for credit by the Department of Agriculture. Each approved CET class carries a “category-specific” number of credit hours depending on its content and duration, and may involve tuition or fee charges by the class sponsor. (NOTE: Applicators are responsible for keeping a record of classes they attend. Classes are eligible for credits only once during the applicator’s 5-year certification period.)
- Five (5) hours must be in specific subject matter directly related to the category.
** Pvt Cat. 2 and 3 requires concurrent certification in Pvt Cat. 1; Commercial Cat. 11 requires concurrent certification
in Commercial Cat. 1a, 2, 3, or 10.
† Includes Sewer Lines Root Control, Marine Anti-Fouling Coating, Wood Preservatives Treatment, and Chlorine Gas
