Chapter 482, Florida Statutes cover structural pest control laws in Florida

A full-time Florida-certified Operator in charge in the FUM category must be employed by the Fumigation company

Anyone with or without a license can perform a Fumigation in Florida.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) is in charge of enforcing fumigation laws in Florida.

A PHD in entomology is required to take the Certified Operator Exam for Fumigation in Florida.

A Special Identification cardholder shall always perform his functions under the direct supervision of his/her Certified Operator.

Unless timely renewed, each Special Identification Card shall automatically expire after the 180-day renewal date.

Applicators may choose to renew their fumigation licenses through exam or CEUs.

If your fumigation license is suspended or revoked for 6 months or longer you will be required to take a reexamination due updated information on pesticide use, application techniques and impacts on health and the environment.

If you choose to renew through examination, this is the same examination taken for the initial license.

Each Special Identification Card holder shall notify FDACS with 10 days of a change of status in their employment or change of address.

A Certified Pest Control Operator must receive 2 Core CEUs and 2 category-specific CEUs to renew their license annually.

In accordance with 482.111 (3) and (4) your pest control operator certificate renews on June 1st annually.

After a 30-day grace period following your license renewal anniversary date, a late fee of $1,000 will be levied upon renewal.

Renewal notices are sent out 60 days before license renewal date.

To take a Certified Operator Exam you must have 3-years of experience working as a service employee under a Certified Operator in the desired category in which, one year must be in the State of Florida.

When qualifying for a Certified Operator Exam through education, you are still required to have one-year of experience in Florida working under a Certified Operator in the specific category to qualify.

A Special Identification Card holder must carry his card at all times when performing service.

Each pest control business must be licensed with FDACS.

The Commercial Fumigation Exam will include topics such as: building Construction terminology and toxicology of fumigant.
